Certain stainless steel flat products require a special edge finish.
The reasons for this can be functional, aesthetic or safety-related. Our modern edge processing facilities can produce a wide variety of edge profiles for strip steel, both by chip removal (deburring, chamfering, web honing and planing) and by cold forming (roll honing and flat rolling).
Our extensive stock of special carbide tools and rounding rolls covers all common cold wide strip thicknesses.
We also manufacture special designs according to specifications (e.g. edges pre-treated for laser welding). Continuous laser width measurement allows even the tightest tolerances to be maintained over the entire length of slit strip.
Technical data
Flattening (up to max. 100 mm width)
for eliminating the transverse curvature created
during slitting of narrow, thick dimensions
Deburring (max 100 x 3.0 mm)
Chamfering
Under chip removal.
Roll rounding (max 100 x 5.0 mm)
By cold forming.
Scatter deburring (max 280 x 3.0 mm)
Under chip removal. Example: Full round edge (r=1/2d)
Planing to sharp right-angled edge (max 280 x 3.0 mm)
Under chip removal.
